Pilot Brewery

Every good brewery needs a pilot brewery to try out new recipes on a small scale without having to run a full length batch and this is mine.  It's almost finished; just needs painting now.  It's designed to brew 2 gallon batches and will be used to try new recipes and for brewing high gravity beers where I wouldn't want 10 gallons lying around tempting me!

The upright is made from a piece of steel 40x60mm, the feet are 30x30mm and the pot stands are cobbled together with 20x20mm square section and 25x25mm angle.  The burners are from BES and, although not as powerful as the ones you see on a lot of American breweries, they are quite powerful enough for a 2 gallon brewlength.

The total cost of putting this together has been a shade over £200.  It's a lot cheaper than my main brewery and the quality of the pots isn't a patch on my 75 litre ones but I can build this whole brewery for the cost of one 75l electric boiler!

I decided to go with propane gas rather than electricity for mobility reasons.  I want to be able to take this to other places and brew rather than, with my main brewery, having to brew only in my garage.
